HAVANA JAZZ LA ZORRA Y EL CUERVO
JAZZ IN HAVANA
The old fable tell of a greedy and hungry fox and a clever crow. The story was probably the inspiration for the name of one of Havana’s most famous Jazz clubs. In Havana's Vedado neighborhood, near the iconic Hotel Nacional, La Zorra y el Cuervo is a Havana institution. The entrance is a red, British style phone booth. Like the ones in the Harry Potter movies, only this one lets you into the world of magical Jazz. La Zorra y el Cuervo was baptized by Chucho Valdes as Cuba’s temple of Jazz. The house cocktail is served in a tall, narrow glass, it is red, and is named after a Jazz legend. I won’t tell you the name, you can find out when you’re in Havana.
Tonight, Erick Jhon is on stage. Who is Erick Jhon? He is the multi-talented Cuban musician and singer who is known for performing a wide variety of genres, from soul to jazz, and boleros to R&B.
The fusion of a Jazz hit, and a bolero is unforgettable. He learned his trade in Cuba, from greats like Bobby Carccases and Beatriz Marques. He graduated from the Pop Jazz Conservatory in Helsinki, Finland.
Tonight, the flute seems to draw colors in the air. The crowd is lost in the music. The sax takes over your emotions. All of these, and Jhon's amazing singing. The music and acoustics make you want to spend the night here.
If you’re in Havana and craving great jazz, if your clever like the crow, La Zorra y el Cuervo awaits. It’s on 23 Avenue between N and O Streets in Havana’s Vedado neighborhood. The music starts every night at 10pm.
